I've been subscribed to Carbonite for about a year now and it has been nothing but problems: files not being backed up until I unselect and then re-select. This happens multiple times per week.

The Carbonite interface constantly reports that all files are backed up when they are clearly marked as not backed up.

Today I got an error (again, again, again) saying carbonite is having trouble backing up to the cloud and to wait a while and it should clear up. Waited over an hour and still no go. Rebooted and after up and running again Carbonite reported no files were selected for backup.

Started a chat with their support and was told "looks like your files are backed up on a server that's down for maintainance, it should be OK again in a few hours".

To that statement I replied that it sounded like breach of contract and the reply to that was that the rep said he couldn't speak for their legal department.

Well, all I have to say at this point is that I may just enter a pro se lawsuit in the local common pleas court and see how they respond.

Reason of review: Constant multiple problems.

Preferred solution: Let the company propose a solution.

Carbonite Cons: Constant problems with files not being backed up.

Carbonite does illegal charges. I canceled my service with them, but they keep charging my credit card.

Filed fraud claim with my bank.

Don't provide them CC, otherwise you end up claiming fraud and cancelling CC. JUST STAY AWAY FROM THEM.

Finally entered a complaint with the office of the Ohio Attorney General with a suggested resolution that I be refunded the entire amount of my subscription fee. I provided documentation in the form of a detailed letter and also a problem log that I maintained for several months.

After a delay of a couple months I received an email from Carbonite simply saying my subscription had been cancelled. Also mentioned was that I would receive a refund of the subscription cost.

Keeps timing out when I want to view a file on my backup. Iโ€™m ready to switch...this is just a waste of time!

Ask for your case to be escalated, reference other tickets, etc
