I'd been a very happy CrashPlan customer for years, always had confidence that it was connected, that it was backing up, and appreciated the alerts I received when -- for whatever reason -- it was not backing up. CrashPlan has exited the personal storage business and gave the work to Carbonite.

First: the "discount" they offer for previous CrashPlan customers is hardly that. They discount a super-premium plan that no personal user needs, and is far more expensive than you'd need. It takes a lot of digging to find the comparably priced product. And then, once you install, lo and behold it does not stay automatically connected, it does not seem to be backing up new files, the whole thing is a hot mess.

And no, I'm not a technology-idiot. I just think that this is the worst online backup service ever.

I'm checking out other alternatives now, even though I've got 11 months left on my Carbonite subscription. Wow, was I screwed by this decision by CrashPlan.

Reason of review: Bad quality.

I agree. I had to manually move my files because carbonite was not intuitive and you can never get support. F them

Carbonite is a POS!!! Clunky & expensive.

I just hung up on their tech support after half an hour on the phone with them. Waste of time.

We have 9 months left on a $700 per year subscription, but I am done. I am finding something else.

I had a very similar experience as a Mozy Pro reseller being gobbled up by Carbonite in September of 2019. They offered little to no support and when I tried to cancel they kept billing me.

It's really ridiculous. They'll never get another dime from me.

Former MozyPro customer, but I agree that Carbonite is total trash. There interface is *** and unintuitive, their product is expensive and clunky, and the website so slow it's pathetic.

Agreed. I was a satisfied CrashPlan customer and a dissatisfied Carbonite customer.

Carbonite really sucks. Just a few minutes ago I found a document that's been sitting on my hard drive not backed up for more than a week. In that week, I only worked on around a half a dozen docs. When I call they tell me it could be a UI problem, but maybe not.

The reps I talk with are polite, but they have not been able to resolve my issues. Really unhappy with Carbonite.

I 100% agree with this review. Carbonite is garbage.

It is slow. My computer is unusable while it is running--even better, when you have to manually restart your machine because YOU HaVE TO WORK, Carbonite has to be reinstalled. It only keeps archives for 2 weeks.

It's help deskers seem pressed into service to apologize for the bad product. Crashplan, why did you do this to us???Desperately seeking a replacement.
