Carbonite only uses Internet Explorer, which is not working on my computer so I am paying for back-up even though it isn't doing it. The agents knew the cause of my problem, they knew how to fix my problem, but under company policy are not allowed to actually help the customer get the service they are paying for. This is a pathetic company policy that was obviously brought about by their keen legal team of advisors who chose risk and liability... Read more

After over 30 hours on the phone with them, the best they were able to do was restore about 60% of my files. I have lost more than $25,000 not to mention the time spent "trying" to restore files that they finally admitted they do not have. Others have had trouble with Carbonite and Mac computers. I got an email saying there had no back up on Carbonite for three weeks. After fruitless trying to reinstall, i called their Tech Support whose suggestion was that my computer is broken because he couldn't remote into my machine, he couldn't figure out why i could not reinstall their program. Along with quite a few other people on here, I cancelled my Carbonite subscription last year and deleted the program from my computer. Then, I received an email from them yesterday stating that I needed up update my computer for the program to work. Hmmmm... So, I went and checked my bank account. Called Feb 2016 to get a copy of my back-up from Carbonite after I had renewed the account on Jan 2016....Was told that the back-up had been deleted and they had switch my back-up to another computer....what the ***!!!! This is the worst back-up company. Call the company and was told there was nothing they could do. TERRIBLE company......Was having issues with deleting files as our limit was reached, and Carbonite just STOPS backing up your files, and customer service just gives you a run around and says "you need to buy more space" when the files that were backed up actually just were double and triple copies and needed to be deleted!! Then, as everyone else here says...NO REFUNDS after we canceled service!!! The worst customer service....total... Read more

I have been with Carbonite for six years. When I wanted to cancel after the first year into my three year subscription. Customer no service said sorry no refunds after 30 days. I've got two years left and not even a partial refund. Never buy into the pitch for a more than a 12 month subscription. Had many of the same problems stated here! I was told that I was canceled and would receive a refund for the 11 months I didn't use, two months later no refund so I called again, conveniently they couldn't seem to find any record of my canceling, and and since now it was past their 30 day timeline I could not get a fund. what a scam!!! for service and a ripoff. invest your money in an external hard drive for less than $100 in... The restore process was a nightmare. A 90 gig restore file added almost 200 gigs of data to my hard drive. Carbonite confirmed that multiple files were duplicated. They basically said good luck with that. Our policy says we can't delete files off someones computer. I even spoke with a supervisor and he was worse. Watch out! When you sign up, they will enroll you in auto-renew billing. My credit card account that they had the information for was closed due to fraudulent activity. Carbonite sent me an email informing me that, "We've tried renewing your Carbonite online backup subscription for Home but the payment information we have on file for you needs to be updated.
