Called Feb 2016 to get a copy of my back-up from Carbonite after I had renewed the account on Jan 2016....Was told that the back-up had been deleted and they had switch my back-up to another computer....what the ***!!!! This is the worst back-up company. Call the company and was told there was nothing they could do. TERRIBLE company......Was having issues with deleting files as our limit was reached, and Carbonite just STOPS backing up your files, and customer service just gives you a run around and says "you need to buy more space" when the files that were backed up actually just were double and triple copies and needed to be deleted!! Then, as everyone else here says...NO REFUNDS after we canceled service!!! The worst customer service....total jerks....and terrible backup service!!! AVOID CARBONITE!!! Read more

I have been with Carbonite for six years. When I wanted to cancel after the first year into my three year subscription. Customer no service said sorry no refunds after 30 days. I've got two years left and not even a partial refund. Never buy into the pitch for a more than a 12 month subscription. The reason for leaving, I keep getting emails saying my mirror image havsn't been backed and constant emails saying no files have been selected for back. Read more

Had many of the same problems stated here! I was told that I was canceled and would receive a refund for the 11 months I didn't use, two months later no refund so I called again, conveniently they couldn't seem to find any record of my canceling, and and since now it was past their 30 day timeline I could not get a fund. what a scam!!! for service and a ripoff. invest your money in an external hard drive for less than $100 in most cases. very very dissatisfied Read more

The restore process was a nightmare. A 90 gig restore file added almost 200 gigs of data to my hard drive. Carbonite confirmed that multiple files were duplicated. They basically said good luck with that. Our policy says we can't delete files off someones computer. I even spoke with a supervisor and he was worse. When I told him I was nervous about an upset guy having access to my computer remotely he became angry and accused me of being combative. Watch out! When you sign up, they will enroll you in auto-renew billing. My credit card account that they had the information for was closed due to fraudulent activity. Carbonite sent me an email informing me that, "We've tried renewing your Carbonite online backup subscription for Home but the payment information we have on file for you needs to be updated. Please update your payment information immediately to avoid further interruption of your backup service." I had long since quit using their service because I was not pleased with it and... Read more

I had everything on my computer backed up to Carbonite approximately 37,000 files, They ERASED all my files and they CAN"T be retrieved!!!! I had my account set for automatic renewal, when renewal came up my credit card had expired so I went in and updated my card that day. It does not give you an option to manually pay when it is set to auto pay.... so I called and talked to customer service, he would not take a payment. I was told to go the website to update my card. I keep getting a message saying no Mirror Image backups have been taken for over seven days, yet when I check this on my computer it shows one taken EVERY day. I contacted them and they want me to start over! I've already done that several times in the past (takes DAYS) and have no interest in doing it again! I've had it - so I asked for a refund - they tell me that o am "out of my 30 day refund window"; WHAT A JOKE. My subscription expired Aug. 1. I was given no warning in advance that it was going to expire. At some point in the day I got a msg saying it was expired but they'd give me a little grace period to renew. (I forget actual wording). Then a few hours later, a msg saying it had expired and I had to renew for my data to be backed up. It would not be backed up until I renewed. So I renewed at night 8/1. I thought after I paid the renewal, my subscription would be automatically extended. No, you need to re-install their software. Which didn't work.... Read more

After reformatting my computer I was assured by a technician that I could restore files as I wanted or needed them, ABSOUTELY no mention was made that anything not restored after 30 days would be deleted, FOREVER. Their response was, "you should have read the fine print". It is ABSOUTELY ridiculous for any back-up service to delete large blocks of data without any safeguards to notify the subscriber of the deletion, especially if they have an active subscription.
